Laughing Waters Farm is ideally located in the Overberg, close to the sea, the mountains, and immersed in the fynbos, South Africa’s incredibly diverse vegetation type.
Out walking at Laughing Waters Farm I regularly find quills and am reminded of the discreet presence of porcupines. In remembering a thrilling night encounter with three seemingly enormous porcupines, their quills erected, I am inspired to explore the facts and fantasies.

It is raining at Laughing Waters Farm. Delighted! During a brief pause in precipitation I Ieap from the house, happy to momentarily escape our pent-up kids and attention seeking cats. A frog gives me a jump, hopping across my foot. The rain soaks into the crackled grass.
